Details of HEIGHTS LOOP ROAD - over the F3 and Pac. Hwy. Tourism Disaster – To the Newcastle Airport from Central Coast , Newcastle , Hunter ,
All travellers on the Loop at a height of 8 to 10 Metres will look directly into the 43 Meter High Macquarie Generation Gas Fired Power Station See a more detailed picture further down! The Stockton Bridge is 30 Metres mean clearance at High Tide. The Hawkesbury River Railway Bridge is 11.8 Metres mean clearance at High Tide. The Anzac Bridge is 27 Metres mean clearance at High Tide. The public have not been made aware that the concept design loop road for north bound traffic to enter Tomago Road has been designed with no thought to the surrounds of the future Power Station on Tomago Industrial Estate. The local Newcastle RTA are proposing that F3 freeway northern traffic to the Airport enter a slip road that lifts up over the F3 (future 6 lanes) and Pac. Hwy. (4 lanes) some 50 metres across before dropping down in a south direction onto the Pacific Hwy to slip into Tomago Road. This route will force the Tourists and travellers to look DIRECTLY into the future Macquarie Generation Gas Fired Power Station. The baulk of the Power Station buildings are 18 metres and more high. On top of these buildings will be 15 Stacks at 43 Metres high and another 4 Stacks at 35 meters high. Lets all hope that there is nothing coming out of these stacks that we and all the tourists can see? This Power Station project has been passed by the DEP without any elevation drawings presented. Any side views of the project were of a sketch’s of the buildings coloured to blend into the sky. These views in the DEP presentation were via the use of a telephoto lens type graphic. No detail can be seen. The Port Stephens & Newcastle councils made note of the omission of side elevations etc in their submissions to the DEP. The Power Station is wonderful. Means work and the Tomago Smelter can expand. Why should the Newcastle RTA propose to build an over bridge in this location ??? If Newcastle RTA goes back to the Newcastle RTA 1st design concept August 2006 of an interchange at Tomago road - no conflict!
What we are concerned about is that the consultants for the Newcastle RTA have not seriously, taken this view into consideration ?? Why ?? NO ELEVATIONS presented for DEPlanning ( passed anyway ) Both Port Stephens Council and Newcastle Council made comment "no side elevations".
